Our Flagship Program:

The Rural and Urban Agriculture Innovative Production Program (RUAIPP)

​

The RUAIPP is our flagship initiative, designed to transition smallholder farmers from subsistence to commercial farming. The transformative program focuses on the following:

1. Agriculture-Based Cluster Development: This is FPI’s cornerstone strategy that involves creating synergies between farmers, investors, funding partners, donors, Government and other players in farming and Industrial cluster development, as a means of building capacity for smallholder farmers to enhance productivity and gain access to local, regional and international markets. This approach gives power to these farmers to collectively negotiate better terms with financiers, suppliers and buyers, ensuring a steady supply of inputs and a reliable market for their produce.

2. Training and Capacity Building: It provides comprehensive training in farm management, gender empowerment, and technology integration. This equips farmers with the skills needed to improve their productivity and connect more effectively with suppliers and markets.

3. Value Chain Development: A way to enhance market linkages by promoting high-value crops such as potatoes, rice, wheat, sunflower, and Moringa. This initiative ensures that farmers can adopt best practices in farming, access lucrative markets and receive fair prices for their produce.

4. Sustainable Practices: It implements climate-resilient and environmentally sustainable farming techniques, were they learn about farm planning, set up and managment, soil types, water types and managment, helping farmers maintain productivity and marketability in the face of environmental challenges.

5. Creation of Front and Backward Linkages: FPI’s work develops comprehensive value chains that connect farmers with suppliers and markets, ensuring efficient production, processing, and distribution. This holistic approach ensures that all stages of the supply chain are optimized for maximum benefit to the farmers.

6. Self-Help Microfinance Credit Schemes: to solve the issue of farming financing, FPI provides training on self-help microfinancing to smallholder farmers to invest in their farms, purchase inputs, and improve their livelihoods.

7. Community-Centric Approach: We believe in community development and empowering the beneficiaries of the projects to create a sustanable development, FPI’s work brings to life family and community economic empowerment through investment in agriculture, it brings youth and women to participate in the agriculture value chain. This boosts local economies and strengthens the connections between rural producers and urban markets.

8. Agroecology: The RUAIPP bring to life the whole package on sustanable farming in both rural and urban centers, mainstreaming agroecological principles in all farming activities to promote biodiversity, enhance ecosystem services, and ensure sustainable agricultural practices.

Through these initiatives, FPI is effectively bridging the gap between rural producers and urban agro-industries and markets, creating a seamless flow of goods and services that benefits all stakeholders involved.
